The bishops need humility.

Nowhere does it show the lack of humility and service by the bishops as in the case of Kansas City Archbishop Finn who chose the empire over children and domination over service. Hans Kung, Congar, Haring, Schillibecxx, and all the other reformers are correct. The hierarchy must change.

Where has Hans Kung Gone?

To understand why Kung has not been cited in dissertations of ecclesiologies one must understand the concept of “Damnatio memoriae.” “Damnatio memoriae is the Latin phrase literally meaning “condemnation of memory” in the sense of a judgment that a person must not be remembered. It was a form of dishonor that could be passed by the Roman Senate upon traitors or others who brought discredit to the Roman State. The result is to erase someone from history.” Think of “Orwell’s 1984″ memory hole.
What is amazing about the Vatican’s minimizing of Kung is how that has taken hold of many progressives who have no idea of the quality of Kungs over 50 books. The book “On Being a Christian” is enough to rank him with the best theologians of our time. His book “Christianity” is the best on the essence of Christian history. And on and on and on. Many of the practices we take for granted now would not have been possible without Kung. There is nowhere such an extensive body of work which justifies the reforms of Vatican II.

Just shows how powerful the Vatican still is despite its corruption.
